Programs

Swimming Classes

Cost: $17 per lesson (GST included).

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics provides a program for children which enhances swimming ability with a strong focus on technique and the development of water safety practices.

The program has five levels of 30 minute lessons: Blue, Green, Bronze, Silver and Gold. These levels build on water confidence and basic water skills, through to the development of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Students receive a certificate and progress through each level as their skills meet the required criteria:

While student progress is monitored by your child’s teacher throughout the term, additional assessments are conducted by the Teacher in Charge (TIC). Customers are also welcome to speak with a TIC to request an assessment at any time.

Class numbers are small, with only four swimmers in Blue classes, five swimmers in Green, Bronze and Silver classes, and six swimmers in Gold classes.

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics 45 minute Elementary session further develops fitness and prepares swimmers for higher levels of squad swimming.

Private Lessons

Cost: $50 per lesson (GST included).

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics provides 1:1 or 1:2 sessions predominantly for students with special needs, as well as students who are well below the expected competency for their age and may therefore not suit group lessons

Adult Swimming

Cost: $25 per lesson (GST included).

Adult swimming lessons are available by arrangement with the Swimming Manager. Classes can be tailored to suit all swimming abilities, from beginner adults who have a fear of water, through to stroke correction.

Aqua Aerobics

Cost: $16 per lesson (GST included).

Nicola Snell runs Aqua Aerobics classes on Tuesday evenings at 7.00pm for 45 minutes. Attendance is casual with no booking necessary, and payment for each session is made on the night.

Holiday Program

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics offers a holiday swimming intensive program with 45 minute sessions. Information about enrolling is available in the weeks before each School holiday period.

To register for the 2018 Summer Holidays Swimming Intensive, submit the Registration of Interest Form [PDF 93.5KB] by Tuesday 9 January 2018.

Enrol

To enrol in an Ivanhoe Girls' Aquatics program, please submit the Ivanhoe Girls' Aquatics Registration and Medical Form [PDF 109KB] to the Swimming Manager, E: iggsaquatics@ivanhoegirls.vic.edu.au

A short 10-15min swimming assessment is required for students who have previous swimming experience. This will assist us in determining the most suitable level for the student within our program. Assessments can be arranged over the phone or via email.

Payment

All swimmers are invoiced at the end of each term for full payment of fees for the upcoming term. Lessons are not held on public holidays and are not included on your invoice.

Payment of fees must be made in full prior to the start of the upcoming term and by the due date on the invoice. Students are not eligible to attend classes until payment for the term's sessions is received. A late fee of $10 will be applied to all accounts not paid by the due date.

Students of Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School and their siblings will have their fees billed to their School account, unless requested otherwise.

Payment can be made by:

  • cheque (made out to Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics)
  • correct cash in an envelope placed in the Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics Payment Box during swim school hours
  • direct deposit
  • credit card.

Some health insurance funds offer payable benefits for swimming lessons and training for 0-17 year olds where the person’s doctor has recommended the activity be undertaken to assist with a medical condition (e.g. asthma, diabetes, an unhealthy BMI). It may be worth checking whether your health insurance fund offers this level of cover.
