Our School Leadership and Service in Senior School

Throughout their time at Ivanhoe Girls', students are given many opportunities to develop important leadership experience, and contribute to their community in many ways.

Leadership experience is available through many formal positions in sporting teams, cultural pursuits, student representative groups and other activity areas where students are appointed or elected to positions of significant responsibility.

Our students take on the responsibility of helping others all over the world, by getting involved in many charitable causes, and participating in community service to assist our neighbouring facilities and local hospitals. They become compassionate contributors to their community and the world; committed to social justice, sustainability and philanthropy.

Some of the social service activities offered at Ivanhoe Girls’ are:

  • Amnesty International
  • Mustard (Christian Group)
  • Duke of Edinburgh Scheme
  • International Club
  • Library Committee
  • Red Shield Appeal.

Ivanhoe Girls’ believes in acknowledging the dedicated effort of students serving the School and the broader community. We recognise outstanding effort through a coherent and highly valued system of School Colour awards that supports the personal development of every student.

This awards system illustrates the value Ivanhoe Girls' places on affirming and celebrating accomplishment gained through hard work, determination, team work and perseverance.

Cooerwull Centre for Leadership and Service

The goals of the Cooerwull Centre are:

  • to enhance the concepts of leadership, teamwork and service throughout the School community
  • to develop students’ leadership, teamwork and responsibility skills and provide opportunities to practise these skills in meaningful ways
  • to provide authentic opportunities for genuine service to our community throughout the School
  • to uphold the values of leadership and service by providing a framework for formal recognition of student achievements in this area
  • to model that true fulfilment comes from helping others.
