Why Ivanhoe Girls'? Co-Curricular Activities

Fostering students’ personal, social and emotional development, co-curricular activities develop teamwork and leadership skills and provide a balanced approach to work and life.

Junior School

There are many opportunities for Junior School students to become involved in a wide range of challenging and enjoyable co-curricular activities. These include:

  • House sport and activities
  • Sport – including aerobics, athletics, basketball, cross country, diving, hockey, netball, recreational swimming, snowsports, soccer, softball, swimming, synchronised swimming, tee ball and tennis
  • Music – including brass ensemble, chamber strings, choristers, Fiddian strings, flute ensemble, Irwin Orchestra, Junior band, Junior choir, percussion ensemble and the School musical
  • Clubs and Groups – including debating, 3D Club, construction, gardening, knitting, Library, Maths Olympiad, Ignite (Rich Extension Program), robotics and the School Representative Council

Some activities on offer are subject to Extra Tuition fees. These include instrumental music lessons, speech and drama training, Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics and tennis.

Senior School

Ivanhoe Girls' encourages all students to develop thier passions and interests outside from their academic endeavours, and make a contribution to the rich cultural life of the school. There are many co-curricular activities for students to get involved in both with the School and in Interschool competitions:

  • House sport and activities
  • Sport – including aerobics, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, circuit training, cricket, cross country, cycle sport (track and road), diving, equestrian, fencing, football (AFL), golf, hockey, indoor cricket, kayaking, netball, outdoor education skills, run squad, snowsports, soccer, softball, swimming, synchronised swimming, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, yoga
  • Music – including choirs, Symphony Orchestra, Senior Concert Band, Stage Band, Jazz Band, string ensembles, percussion ensembles, and smaller ensembles including string quartets and piano trios.
  • Drama and debating – AIM Drama, Debaters Associations of Victoria, public speaking training, Radio Vita, School Production
  • Leadership and Social Service – including Amnesty International Club, Community Problem Solving, confirmation preparation, Duke of Edinburgh Award Program, International Club, Mustard Christian Group, peer support, Red Shield Appeal, Student Representative Council, Youth Parliament
  • International travel – exchange programs, overseas cultural and study tours
  • Student clubs and groups, including art, astronomy, chess, Library, Future Problem Solving, Golden Mitre School Magazine, Ignite, philanthropy, Plus Club, Politics Club.

Some activities on offer are subject to Extra Tuition fees. These include instrumental music lessons, speech and drama training; Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics and tennis.
