Our Community Parent Associations

Our School enjoys the support of many dedicated parents and friends who assist the School and its activities throughout the year in a number of friendly and welcoming associations.

Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School Parents' Association

The Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School Parents' Association (IGGSPA), was formed following a merger between the Mothers’ Association (est. 1926) and the Parents and Friends’ Association (est. 1967). It seeks to enhance the School community and provide meaningful connections between parents, friends of the School, staff and students.

This is achieved through:   

Friendship/Fundraising
  • Promoting, fostering and contributing to a positive and safe environment where all members of the School community can contribute
  • Promoting communication within the community
  • Welcoming, orientating and integrating all new members into the School 
  • Strengthening the Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School community
  • Networking
  • Valuing and supporting the significant contribution made by parents, community and volunteers.  
Education
  • Support the work of the Counselling Department and the greater pastoral care/wellbeing program by providing regular links with parents  
  • Provide the opportunity to build information and knowledge to support parents in raising their children.  
Fundraising
  • Raising and donating funds to enhance the School offering and, importantly, so it benefits the students of Ivanhoe Girls’
  • Funds provided may take the form of providing contributions to capital expenditure projects, supporting programs or projects outside the School for individuals or groups of students from Ivanhoe Girls’. 
Parent Class Representatives

At the beginning of the year, parent representatives are invited from each class in the Junior School and each year level in the Senior School to coordinate and encourage social interactions between the School and families.

Cooerwull Inc.

Cooerwull recognises service to the School and provides opportunities for current and past parents, staff and others who have served Ivanhoe Girls’, to meet socially and retain links to the School community. It is also the registered company through which financial donations to Ivanhoe Girls’, such as bequests, are recognised.

Membership is open to anyone who has been a committee member of an Ivanhoe Girls' Association or has been a staff member at Ivanhoe Girls', for five years or more. Financial donations can be made at any time and also provide Cooerwull membership.

Cooerwull activities include:

  • An annual presentation event to recognise service and present awards for milestones and contributions 
  • Social occasions for members to be involved in the current life of the School 
Friends of Music

The Friends of Music support and promote music within the School community.

Some of their activities include:

  • fundraising for scholarships, tours, and the purchase of equipment for the Music Department
  • providing assistance when needed, such as working bees to help maintain equipment, stage management, and providing supper at musical functions
  • encouraging a social network for parents, students and friends who share a common interest in music.
Ivanhoe Girls' Snowsports

The Ivanhoe Girls' Snowsports Committee support students involved in Alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing. This voluntary parent Committee strives to ensure all students can enjoy snowsports, regardless of prior experience.


The Committee organises fundraising, social activities and assists with training and competitions at Mt Buller, Lake Mountain and Falls Creek. All interested parents are welcome to join.
