Work Experience provides students with the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the world of work, develop employability skills, and explore possible career pathways by observing and participating in everyday workplace activities.

At Ivanhoe Girls', all Year 10 students undertake work experience for four days, from Tuesday 1 December to Friday 4 December. This program is a vital part of their learning journey, helping students build confidence, responsibility, and a clearer understanding of future career options.

The generosity of our community in opening their workplaces to students creates truly meaningful experiences. By sharing your expertise and professional environments, you give students the chance to observe real workplaces, ask thoughtful questions, and understand how different roles contribute to society.

During work experience, students are expected to:

• Observe the performance of those they are working alongside and learn responsibly, even in environments where workplace Occupational Health and Safety regulations may limit hands-on participation
• Ask questions, make observations and engage actively in the workplace, recognising that initiative demonstrates interest and professionalism
• Follow instructions and comply with all workplace rules and regulations, just as any full-time employee would
• Perform tasks and duties to the best of their ability, while understanding their rights and responsibilities around safe work practices
• Behave in a manner that always upholds the good reputation of themselves and the School
