To enrol in an Ivanhoe Girls' Aquatics program, please download and complete the Student Registration Form [PDF 100KB] and return it to the Swimming Manager.

A short 10 - 15 minute swimming assessment is required for students who have previous swimming experience. This will assist us in determining the most suitable level for the student within our program. Assessments can be arranged over the phone or via email.

All swimmers are invoiced at the end of each term for full payment of fees for the upcoming term. As lessons are not held on public holidays these dates will be excluded on your invoice.

Payment of fees must be made in full prior to the start of the upcoming term and by the due date on the invoice. Students are not eligible to attend classes until payment for the term's sessions is received. A late fee of $10 will be applied to all accounts not paid by the due date.

Students of Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School and their siblings will have their fees billed to their School account, unless requested otherwise.

Payment can be made:

Effective from 1 September 2019, the option to complete payment of fees via online bank transfer will be removed. We would therefore kindly request that customers utilise the Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School Payment Portal if completing payment electronically.

Please contact the Swimming Manager to arrange an alternative payment option.

NB: Some health insurance funds offer payable benefits for swimming lessons and training for children where a doctor has recommended the activity be undertaken to assist with a medical condition. Please contact your Health Insurer to enquire if your health fund offers this level of cover.

Please follow our policies while attending Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics programs:

  • Swimming attire
All swimmers must wear proper bathers and swimming cap, and may wear goggles. No board shorts should be worn in the water. Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics stocks a range of caps and goggles for sale.
  • Drink bottles
All swimmers must bring a drink bottle to their class.
  • Parking
Parking is available in the surrounding streets. The staff car park located off Upper Heidelberg Road must not be used by program participants (including after hours).
  • Lesson changes
While we endeavour to re-enrol students into the same timeslots in upcoming terms, sessions running at the start and end of operating hours may be subject to change based on the number of swimmers enrolled. In the event that the session cannot be offered, we will contact you to negotiate a change of lesson time, or you can choose to pay a private lesson cost until a class becomes available.
  • Missed lessons
You will only be compensated for classes missed due to illness or injury, providing a medical certificate is presented. Make-up lessons for reasons other than illness or injury will depend on the availability of a suitable class, and can only be arranged during the term a session was missed. Make-up lessons and credits will not be given for other reasons, e.g. holiday, school activities.
  • Cancelling lessons
To reduce steps for customers, student enrolments are automatically carried over into the upcoming term. Therefore, if you wish to cancel your enrolment, you must notify Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics in writing one month prior to ceasing swimming lessons. In exceptional circumstances, Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics may waive this notice period. Mid-term cancellations will incur a charge for sessions which have occurred prior to the notification of cancellation date. Cancellation from enrolment due to injury or illness should be advised in writing as soon as possible.
  • Changing rooms
Children aged seven years and below who are using the changing room of the opposing gender must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. Students eight years and above are required to use the changing rooms which best reflect their gender identity. Active supervision of your child is required at all times to ensure the comfort of all patrons. We wish to kindly request that all pool users remain respectful of others’ privacy when using these shared spaces. Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics provides two private cubicles and one toilet in both the female and male changing rooms, to allow for additional privacy should students or parents require it.

Ivanhoe Girls' Aquatics Programs

Group Lessons

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics provides a program for children which enhances swimming ability with a strong focus on technique and the development of water safety practices.

The program has five levels of 30 minute lessons: Blue, Green, Bronze, Silver and Gold. These levels build on water confidence and basic water skills, through to the development of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Cost: $18.00 per 30 minute lesson (GST included)

Students receive a certificate and progress through each level as their skills meet the required criteria:

While student progress is monitored by your child’s teacher throughout the term, additional assessments are conducted by the Teacher in Charge (TIC). Customers are also welcome to speak with a TIC to request an assessment at any time.

Class numbers are small, with only four swimmers in Blue classes, five swimmers in Green, Bronze and Silver classes, and six swimmers in Gold classes.

The 45 minute Elementary Session further develops fitness and prepares swimmers for higher levels of squad swimming.

Private Lessons

Ivanhoe Girls’ Aquatics provides 1:1 or 1:2 sessions predominantly for students with special needs, as well as students who are well below the expected competency for their age and may therefore not suit group lessons.

Cost: $53 per 30 minute lesson (GST included)

Adult Lessons

Adult swimming lessons are available by arrangement with the Swimming Manager. Classes can be tailored to suit all swimming abilities, from beginner adults who have a fear of water, through to stroke correction.

Cost: $26.50 per 45 minute lesson (GST included)

Aqua Aerobics

Nicola Snell runs Aqua Aerobics classes on Tuesday evenings at 7.00pm for 45 minutes. Attendance is casual, and payment for each session is made on the night.
