Ms Every led a Shape Hunt around Fiddian, Amos, and Sharwood Houses, encouraging students to spot two-dimensional shapes hidden in the intricate Federation style details of the buildings. In another session, Ms Nomes invited students to design eyecatching patterns using LEGO blocks, experimenting with shape and colour. Working in the Amos House Maths Room, Ms Geraets supported students in using felt pieces to create imaginative scenes while identifying and arranging shapes. Meanwhile, Mrs Everest introduced students to geoboards, where they stretched rubber bands to form a range of shapes and repeating patterns.
It was wonderful to see students so engaged in their learning, collaborating with peers from different year levels and embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. The mornings were not only a celebration of maths but also of connection, curiosity, and creativity.

“We counted the number of triangle tiles on the 1N porch. First we counted one side of the square, then we counted the next side of the square, and then we doubled the answer to find the total of the four sides of the porch. There were 13 triangles on each side.”
