Over the School Holidays, 35 adventurous students and their families made their way up to Falls Creek for our annual cross country ski camp. Snow evaded us the first few days but never mind!
Our fabulous coaches took the opportunity to further our fitness and ski knowledge. This included a bush walk through a state forest, a Mt Beauty pondage run, a waxing skills session, video analysis and indoor fitness.
By Day 3, the snow fairies had heard our wishes. It snowed all day, and we happily skied through it. On Days 4 and 5 the snow remained and the weather cleared…perfect! Students participated in on-snow games, drills, intervals, races and long skis. Throughout the Camp all our students maintained a great attitude throughout the variable training schedule and ever-evolving weather/snow conditions. Well done, especially to our new skiers, who were put through their paces during their first few days on snow. It was amazing to see so much improvement from all students in such a short space of time.
Thank you to our incredible parents, especially Sarah, Toby, Jill, Matt and Michael for all your organisation. Thank you also to our incredible Alumni coaches, and Head Coach for the Camp, Pete.
We look forward to putting our skills to the test at the Victorian Cross Country Ski Championships on Sunday 2 August at Mt Buller.
