On Friday 14 August, our Senior School students took to the stage at Centre Ivanhoe for the annual House Performing Arts (HPA) Carnival. After weeks of dedication, rehearsals, and teamwork, each House delivered outstanding performances across Music, Drama and Open (Dance).Even teachers and staff joined in on the fun, surprising the audience with a flash mob dance of their own to Everybody by the Backstreet Boys. Congratulations to all students, staff, and House Representatives for creating such a memorable day filled with creativity, fun, vibrancy, bravery and lots of House spirit!

Student Reflections

Ivanhoe Girls' House Performing Arts (HPA) Carnival was truly a wonderful chance to watch everyone’s hard work shine on stage. The day allowed for our School to put the prefect motto ‘Here To Be Heard’ in place through giving everyone a chance to take part, while also allowing for everyone to support and celebrate each other. HPA allowed me to connect with other year levels within my House. During the performance, Centre Ivanhoe was filled with laughter and chanting, creating such an amazing environment.

Rotherwood taking first place for Open, which was our first win of the year, was a highlight for me as House Captain, which gave me the chance to celebrate with the House. Another highlight was the standout performance of the teachers dancing to the Backstreet Boys and, of course the Mexican Food Truck!

While this was my second year as Locksley Music Representative for the House Performing Arts Carnival (HPA), my expectations were certainly exceeded! Despite there being plenty of challenges at the beginning, my peers developed confidence in both singing and performing. Through getting to know each other and creating a fun, supportive environment, the students gave their all into the performances and it absolutely paid off.

Although we placed second, I am immensely proud of Locksley Music for the amazing performance they created and will forever cherish Ivanhoe Girls' vibrant HPA experience.
