Following a thorough process with our recruitment partner, the School is pleased to advise that Mrs Lisa Miller has been appointed to the role of Head of Junior School. Lisa will commence in the role at the beginning of Term 2, 2025.
Lisa is currently the Head of Junior School at Strathcona Girls Grammar School having commenced in 2020 and holds a Master of Education (Special Education Needs) from Deakin University. Lisa also holds a Bachelor of Education P-12 from Victoria University and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) from Deakin University.
Lisa has significant experience in education (Australia and International) through various leadership roles as Head of Teaching and Learning, Melbourne Grammar School - Grimwade House (2017-2019), Stage 1 Leader at the Australian International School, Malaysia (2015-2016), Curriculum and Learning Support Co-ordinator P-12, Australian International School, Indonesia (2012-2015) and has been an active Classroom Teacher in Junior Schools over a number of years from 2005 – 2015 including in the areas of Special Education.
Lisa impressed the interview panel with her visionary and strategic educational leadership and is committed to understanding our school culture, community and driving positive change in our Junior School. Lisa has a proven track record of inspiring and developing successful learning cultures that value collaboration, innovation, and the holistic development of each individual student, promoting academic excellence, wellbeing and student achievement.
On her appointment, Mrs Miller said “I am excited to be joining the vibrant Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School team as the Head of Junior School and am looking forward to getting to know students, parents, staff and the wider community. Building relationships and understanding the Ivanhoe Girls’ way will be my first goals. Having dedicated my career to date to promoting excellence in teaching, learning and wellbeing, I am a deeply passionate primary school educator and aim to empower student agency and inspire transformational, innovative and impactful change. I will strive to create a thriving learning environment for all within the Junior School.”
Congratulations to Lisa on her appointment, we look forward to seeing how the Junior School develops under her leadership. In the meantime, our Interim Head of Junior School, Mr Julian Carroll will commence in mid-January 2025 for Term 1 and will undertake a comprehensive handover with Lisa to ensure a seamless transition into Term 2, 2025.
